This fun little handcrafted bowl is slightly oval and measures 4.75″ long, 4.5″ wide, and 3.1″ high. The natural bark edge is what you get when you reverse the orientation of the log during turning. It would make a lovely gift or look great on your coffee table or bookshelf.  It could also hold your rings, earrings, or watch.

This bowl is made from a variety of ornamental pear. (Pyrus calleryana ‘Bradford’)  Pear wood is a hard, fine-grained hardwood, prized for its smooth texture, pinkish hue, and excellent workability. It’s ideal for intricate carving, musical instruments, and fine furniture.  It finishes to a high polish and its color deepens with age.  It’s really beautiful wood.

The tree grew in our backyard for ~20 years.  It was damaged in an ice storm and had to be taken down for safety.

The bowl was finished with two coats of a durable hard wax oil, and then buffed out with a light coat of Carnauba wax.
